Starting a blog can be pretty difficult, especially if you're on your own. I'm not an 'expert' but I have learnt a lot over the past year about blogging, so here I am now... giving you my top 5 blogging tips!
This may not be the first thing you think of when starting a blog, but a good blog design honestly makes such a big difference. I'm rubbish at HTML, but Lucy does all the blog design related work on here so I'm alright. If I were you, I would ask friends and family first to see if they can help you out with your first design. If not, then you can always search for some simple tutorials on google. Even a simple design is fine but, it's just nice to have a personalised blog.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT HOW MANY FOLLOWERS YOU HAVE! Whether you have 10 followers or 100... it really shouldn't matter! If you are a blogger then the most important thing is to just enjoy what you do. With that said, it is still nice to know that people read your blog. To be part of the blogging community, you need to read other blogs and support them. Before you know it, you'll have made friends with another blogger and be working on a collab.
I didn't think this was important when I started blogging. I just thought there was no point because the only camera I had was the one on my phone. I even got a comment once on one of my posts saying that I could improve my posts if I put up pictures as well... I deleted that comment and now I wish I hadn't because I honestly feel the need to thank that person! I still only take pictures on my phone, they may not be the best quality, but it really doesn't matter! Canva is a great website for making graphics - our post headers are all made on Canva!
I never used to do this and my friends would read my posts and tell me that my grammar was totally off, when really the main reason was that I never checked my posts after I'd finished them. You'll be surprised how many times you re-write a sentence when you're blogging! You end up mixing up two of your ideas and then none of it makes sense! I still have LOADS of mistakes in my posts, but none of them are as big as the ones in my older posts!
You don't have to follow a schedule strictly but it's a good idea to have one anyway. Once you have a schedule, it means that followers know when your posts are going live and know when to expect one! I usually post on Tuesdays, but I do sometimes miss a few posts, but that honestly shouldn't matter. We're all busy sometimes and we can't do anything about that! Also... sometimes you just run out of post ideas!
